2013 saw the inaugural ‘Summer Streets’ event, where London’s iconic Regent Street was closed off to traffic every Sunday during July, each week featured events with a different theme. The final weekend saw the street become an urban garden.
Following on from the success at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, Rachel was invited to bring the garden to the capital, and so the Bee Garden was reimagined for the day event. The garden went down a storm with tourists and shoppers alike, creating a tranquil haven in the normally traffic congested south-bound lane of Regent Street - there were many eager requests for the garden to remain! Not to mention the acrobats that performed an impromptu act in the garden.
This gave an ideal opportunity to demonstrate how we can help provide food and habitat to the nation's bees, no matter what the size of space or what the budget is.
